In this workshop, choreographer Rachel Tess invites participants to explore the connections between embroidery and contemporary dance. Through the gestures of stitching, knotting, pulling, looping, and repeating, we discover how the movements of our hands can extend into the movements of our whole bodies.
Both embroidery and dance are practices of rhythm, attention, and transformation, where small, repeated actions gradually form something larger. Open to all, regardless of previous experience, the workshop offers a space to experiment, move, make, and discover how threads and bodies can weave stories together.

The workshop is part of an ongoing collaboration with MARC, through which we explore and deepen our understanding of contemporary art by highlighting the sculptural qualities of dance and choreography at Axel Ebbe Art Hall.
Milvus Artistic Research Center (MARC) was founded in 2014 and is an artist residency centre for dance and choreography based in Knislinge, Sweden. Throughout the year, artists are invited to stay and develop their artistic practice at the centre.
