A New Exhibition Dedicated to Axel Ebbe

Permanent exhibition

A new permanent exhibition at Axel Ebbes Art Hall highlights the unique and multifaceted artistry of Axel Ebbe.

The exhibition showcases both the graceful and monumental sculptures of Axel Ebbe, as well as his prints and drawings. Visitors are invited to follow Ebbe’s life—from his studies in Copenhagen and Paris, through his years as a cosmopolitan artist in many of Europe’s capitals, to his return to Hököpinge, where he created the majority of the sculptures and books in the local dialect for which he is best known.

New archival research has uncovered fascinating letter collections, offering a rare glimpse into Ebbe’s personal correspondence with friends. Through these letters, we hear his own voice and thoughts.

The exhibition is inspired by the original 1935 design of the art hall, evoking the feeling of a winter garden. Once again, visitors can experience Ebbe’s sculptures surrounded by greenery, atmospheric lighting, playful shadow effects, and a sense of tranquility. The exhibition traces Ebbe’s artistic journey through his works, while weaving in the story of the man behind the art.
